End of Semester
Now that you have [almost] completed the course, please answer each survey question once more in a few thoughtful sentences.
1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I really think I can incorporate art into almost every lesson, whether it be social studies, science, math or literacy. Art is another form of expression and can help to demonstrate what the students have learned or a form of their learning towards another subject matter other than art. When brainstorming lesson plan ideas lately, art always creeps in to the lesson and for those students who are artistically inclined, it would be very beneficial.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
Integration of different subject areas into a lesson is a huge way to make the learning more authentic for all learners and students. The more ways the students can apply and learn knowledge, the easier it will be for them to recall that same information in the future. Integration using several different subjects is very important to me and will definitely happen in the lessons I create for my future classroom.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I feel a lot more comfortable making art when I realized making art does not have to JUST be drawing pictures. When I am passionate about what I am creating, I tend to work harder and more diligently on making the art work that much better. When I have a good idea, it makes it easier to just run with it and be creative, but it all starts with that one, great idea.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I think learning how to VTS different pieces of art has really helped me to be more comfortable discussing art. I plan to use VTS to my advantage not only in art class but in other subject areas as well. The students' ideas are much more important to discuss than just me lecturing about what I see or what the artist's intent for the piece was. VTS Rocks!
